Screen Cleaning Party

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

On tonight's to-do list: cleaning screens.  If someone decides to produce new and improved supplies, I ask one thing of you: please make these things dishwasher safe.  Man, I hate cleaning screens.  Tonight, I decided to make the best of it and poured myself a (few) glass(es) of prosecco, pumped up the i-tunes, used about a half-roll of paper towels (sorry trees but at least I use the recycyled ones) and had a cleaning party.  My soundtrack started out with MC Solar (because I love anything french)--backed-up with a little Nelly Furtado (because I started to want to understand the words)  It was actually kindof fun. Eight clean screens.  Check!

I'm with you! Cleaning screens is my least favorite part of the gocco process. What do you use for cleaning yours? After I ran out of the Gocco screen cleaner, I started using Goop Hand Cleaner (it's about $2 for a tub of it). I found out about it in one of the gocco groups. Is that what you use, or do you have any recommendations?

Hmmm, I have a backlog of screens that need cleaning too. It is such a lot of not fun.

Hi Katie, I found you through our blogroll, somehow I hadn't stumbled upon your blog yet! I do woodblock printing (hate the clean-up the most too!!) but have reallly wanted to get into gocco because I love the aesthetic of it. are supplies still available or is it getting harder to find? thanks!

Cutiepie-- last night I used the RISO cleaner but I also use vegetable oil. Both work just great. Thanks for the Goo tip. Can't beat that price.
Jan--"not lot of fun" Cracking up here.
Miss Lynsey- whoot to BYW friends! Supplies are not so much hard to find but ...getting expensive. This girl still hopes someone will bring gocco and supplies back to life.

This has nothing to do with cleaning screens, but I need advice on purchasing a Gocco Machine! Which style machine would you recommend to make wedding invites? I'm new to this so any advice would be great!

Dunkinsmother- YES!! Put the screens in a zip baggies and stick them in the freezer. Don't leave them too long though or your screens will get freezer burn!
